I am a fleeting paradise
Not of this world
so longingly awaited
When you recognize me
I crumble to dust
I fly away
yet eternal memory
Change of State
or for information on risks and side-effects
Where textures meet surface, colours divide form, planes in space overlap, they are creating intervals rather than continuity. Frozen moments of attempts in classification, evoking impressions from natural science textbooks reloaded with a dash of magical thinking. Like a future past cocktail constructed from memories stored in chemical formulas. The prevailing shades of white are triggering lab associations, clinical test arrangements for a change of state to happen any moment. Coloured bars mimic diagrams. Molecular structures seem to improvise routes to equilibrium. Cuts disclose inner structures and patterns are luring like tentacles, linking chemistry to essence somewhere on the way into being.
The titles of the work underline the transitional character, the circling around the ‘enigmatic interstice of existence’ (Ena Oppenheimer) and the insistence on ambiguity and intuition as productive modes of questioning the so-called reality. It’s a path that leads along borderlines rather then into a centre, to moments of irritation and un- certainties, defying definition. Strange matter shimmering in pastel tubes is holding all the answers, available on prescription.
Very happy to be part of the www.epo.org/art-collection
EXPLORING ART AT THE EUROPEAN PATENT OFFICE
is a documentary about the EPO art collection where my work is part of. This documentary was produced to mark the 40th anniversary of the EPO's award-winning collection to give insights into the creation and growth of the collection.
According to current scientific theories, only one sixth of all matter is visible to humans. This leads to the assumption that what we call reality is only a tiny part of the existing reality. Cosmologists call these 85% of the invisible reality Dark Matter and Dark Energy. It is believed that this invisible matter interacts with visible matter via gravity as this may explain the acceleration of the universe‘s drifting apart which started with the big bang.
Dialogue with composer and
multi-instrumentalist Mark Polscher
It is a pleasure for me to announce my participation at https://kunst-netz-werk.online – an online project of DG Kunstraum, the art pastoral of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and the art department of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. I was invited to enter into a dialogue with an artist from another field and I encountered the composer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Polscher. We started our dialogue – see what comes next.
